AntaresJust what I'd expect from my student. The Blade Brandier Antares is one of the most prominent figures in Haseo's post-Roots tale. Somewhat filling the role of Phyllo, somewhat just being the resident grumpy old guy, the former Arena emperor takes Haseo under his wing -- against Haseo's wishes, of course. That just proves their training is meant to be.Antares was originally a friend of Phyllo's, and after his death vowed to look out for Haseo. He first meets Haseo in Lumina Cloth and pretty much tells him he sucks and has to get better. Ordinarily a normal person would call Antares a crazy old man with a weird sense of fashion and let it go; not so for Haseo, who just can't help but take this as a personal insult to his pride. He starts playing Antares' little games, which are actually training exercises that will prove very useful later. Haseo is usually quick to deny being Antares' student, but as the story progresses, so do Haseo's feelings toward his senpai. He's been known to refer to Antares as "master" on the sly, and the two maintain a good relationship once the initial abrasiveness wears off. They battle once in the Arena, but even that ends with a life lesson for both. In Antares' max affection ending, he and Haseo meet in Mac Anu: Haseo: Hey, Antares.Antares then puts Haseo through training hell. In the end, the two are .hack's own little Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off, Haseo!
